Calacatta Taupe is a cream-colored quartzite with many variations of brown veining throughout. Crisscrossing in erratic patterns, the darkened lines create a bold contrast against the creamy white background. An alternative to marble, Calacatta Taupe’s hard, the resilient surface can be used for kitchen countertops without having the scratching and etching issues experienced with marble. During the polishing process, an epoxy resin is applied to the surface of the stone to fill in any natural pits, cracks or fissures that may exist.
